I have a feeling that something like this may "rekindle" interest in reading. If the Kindle can integrate into our timeshifting lifestyle, offering a simple and convenient way of reading, then the opportunity is there.

I've been wanting one since it came out. It's the perfect solution for all the computer/programming books I keep ordering by the boat load from Amazon.

Plus, it supports RSS, audio books and even a browser.

If version 2.0 will support wi-fi, I'll definitely buy one.

Amazon does enjoy worship. I've been buying all my books there for years now... Its the best online shop around...

Anyway, I wasn't saying that there's no crowd for books. But you have to agree that the music crowd is way bigger...

I keep hearing these doom prophecies, but I'm not sure they are true - consider the fact we live in an age in which a single book series sold over 400 million copies world-wide.
But there is a big difference compared to the iPod - Amazon doesn't enjoy Apples relion-like worship, and there are alternatives to the Kindle out there.
