I wanted to build a screen saver and came across Karen’s template which is made for Visual Studio 2005 and .NET 3.0.
Since I’m on Visual Studio 2008 and .NET 3.5, I took Karen’s template and made some modifications to support it.
So, if you want to create a screen saver with Visual Studio 2008 here’s a template for you:
Installation Instructions
- Download the zip file.
- Copy the zip (do not extract) to <My Documents>\Visual Studio 2008\Templates\ProjectTemplates

Where is the link to the download ?
Sorry, post must have changed when I switched from dasBlog to WordPress.
Link is there now…
I’m behind a firewall that is blocking the link. Any chance you can email me the zip? It needs to be renamed though (*.piz works).
Thanks
When I launch the screensaver I just get a black window. How can I put some pictures in the screensaver?
I created a folder called “My Exported Templates”. I copied the zip file into it. How do I find the template using VS 2008? I opened New Project, but I don’t know how to find the template.
Also, is there a VB version of this?
I copied the Zip to the right place (I can see templates I made myself) but VS doesn’t pick it up.
Any tips?
I have the same question as the previous 2 posters; how do I get the template “registered” in VS2008?
I just tried it on my system and couldnt find a “My Exported Templates” folder which I’m sure was there when I wrote this post.
Anyway, dropping the .zip file at the regular Templates folder works too:
< ...My Documents... >\Visual Studio 2008\Templates\ProjectTemplates
