Google Reader?

Looking at my blog’s Aggregator Activity statistics I’ve noticed a refferal coming from the following url: http://www.google.com/reader/
I’ve never heard of this google tool before so I did a quick search (on Google ofcourse :-) ) and found out why: it was only release 4 days ago.

Google released a new web-based RSS client called “Google Reader”. You can check out the related discussion group and FAQ.
From the accompanying press release:

“Google Reader makes it easy to find and subscribe to online feeds to help users organize and stay up-to-date on the ever-increasing amount of web information they consume on a daily basis.

The product features a clean, easy-to-use interface and includes a comprehensive feed finder, multi-media feed displays, and algorithms that can assist users with automatic content prioritization, plus easy sharing capabilities with email and “blog this” features.”

Looks like Google is really going head-to-head with Microsoft regarding web services and I wonder what’s Microsoft response (MSN Services, Hotmail “Kahuna”) is going to be like.

Another interesting point is that if I’m getting refferals from Google Reader then I actually have readers? Thats nice to know… :-)
